redbook audio cd vs 320kb/sec MP3 file....there's not much difference if you're listening through a generic car stereo.

if you're in a recording studio, yeah big difference, but not many people have the fidelity output (monitors/headphones) nor do they care. as long as the music is recognizable.

i mostly listen to mp3s...but use cd / minidisc / vinyl / cassette / reel in my home. vinyl is #1 but that's because it's so much fun to use.

it's funny when mp3 players advertise their player can hold 1,000 songs. yeah, 1,000 songs at 128kb/sec, where the dynamic range is much more limited..but you already know that.

well im back to these forums from a long vacation called Summer, which is almost over to this conversation. I just wanted to say, why does it matter as long as you hear the music. FLAC or mp3, sure i prefer FLAC quality, but the convenince of smaller space largely outweighs the quality difference. I keep most of my music at 224 mp3
